Wire fencing comes in several different qualities.  We reccomend all wire for horses or livestock to be class 3 wire which triples the time one enjoys rust free fencing.  Various profiles are available which affects overall cost, but 2" x 4" spacing accommodates horses well with larger spacing being an option for other types of animals.  Diamond Mesh fencing is the "premier" wire fence as the horizontal wires are heavier gauge and doubled together for more strength.  This wire also has very small openings preventing any hoof damage to horses.  Most wire fences have one board installed to make the fence visible to horses. Proper bracing is required to for this type of fence  making it a costly choice for small areas such as corrals.
